The US is leading five other countries in a series of air strikes targetting Islamic State militants in Syria.
Until now, the military action against the group has been focused on their positions in Iraq.

Saudia Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain and the UAE are all said to be among those backing the campaign, however there's been little official comment on the support.
Meanwhile – the French Foreign Ministry has confirmed the authenticity of a video showing a French national who is being held by an Islamic State splinter group in Algeria.
I.S. militants had warned they would target France after it launched air strikes against them in Iraq.
