A man has been killed after he was struck by a truck in an accident on the Clare-Limerick border.
The accident occured at around 6:45 this morning, on the in-bound portion of the Ennis Road between the Radisson Hotel and the Coonagh Roundabout.
A 27-year-old man was walking along the hard shoulder when he was hit by a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was uninjured.
Gardaí closed the inbound portion of the road road to allow for a forensic examination. Traffic is being diverted via Meelick and the route is not expected to re-open until this afternoon.

Separately, a 22-month old boy has died in Co. Donegal after he was struck by a van which had driven into the driveway of his home at Creevegleve in Letterkenny at around 6:45 last evening.
The toddler was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital – but lost his fight for life.
Gardaí say the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.
