The company which is driving development of the Shannon Free Zone says they are embarking on a building program which is aimed at securing employment there.
The former Shannon Development, which has now been integrated with the Airport, owns over 400 properties, including 165 in Shannon which have been described as the 'jewel in the crown.'

Its 2013 accounts have been scrutinised by the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, and their hearing has heard that over half of their properties are vacant and that many need to be demolished or upgraded.
Ray O'Driscoll, Managing Director of Shannon Commercial Properties, says they now want to start a planned re-development program in the Shannon Free Zone.
