Hauliers Warn Of Job Losses Due To Motor Tax Rates

The Clare head of the Irish Road Haulage Association says the decision by government not to change motor tax arrangements for the industry will cost dozens of jobs in Co. Clare.

Hauliers say it's five times more expensive to tax a truck in Ireland than in the North, and now many are said to be considering a move to register their vehicles in other European jurisdictions.

Bunratty-based Eoin Gavin, President of the IRHA, says the group's members are up in arms after their lobbying efforts came to nothing.
