Clare's road safety officer has called for the swift implementation of new laws if they are needed, to ensure that motorists caught speeding by Go Safe vans are prosecuted.
Barry Keating's comments come after Ennis District Court Judge Patrick Durcan dismissed 98 cases related to alleged speeding offences by mainly Clare-based drivers this week.

He made his ruling on two points of law, and there are now concerns that this could have set a legal precedent that may undermine the speed van detection system.
