The Road Safety Authority is appealing to drivers to leave the car at home if they're celebrating New Year's tonight.
Gardaí will be out in force across the country this evening enforcing new roadside impairment tests for drink and drug driving.

They're reminding all pedestrians to make sure they're wearing hi-visibility clothing – and urging drivers and passengers to wear seatbelts.
The RSA's Brian Farrell says if at all possible, cars should be left at home, and alternative transport arranged.
