Overcrowding Continues at University Hospital Limerick

There has been no easing of the number of people on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick today.

Once more, 37 people are seeking treatment on trolleys and chairs in the MidWest's main hospital, including 23 in the Emergency Department at Dooradoyle.

It's also the highest number of any hospital outside of Dublin, according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Meanwhile, Clare's Labour TD says he's concerned that the prospect of extra money to tackle overcrowding has been ruled out.

Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin has ruled out emergency funding, but his party colleague Deputy Michael McNamara feels that shouldn't happen.
