Overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick has escalated today.
There are 46 patients waiting for treatment on trolleys and chairs, nearly 50 per cent higher than any other hospital in Ireland.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says 34 of the patients are waiting in the region's main Emergency Department, while 12 are being accommodated in other overflow areas.
Nurses have criticised conditions at the hospital in recent months, and INMO and SIPTU members have voted in favour of a work-to-rule which will begin on the third of next month.
