Clare TD calls on Government to block sale of Aerlingus

Fianna Fáil is calling for the Transport Minister not to allow the sale of the government's stake in Aer Lingus to go ahead.

Yesterday it emerged that the parent company of British Airways has approached the carrier with a fresh takeover bid.

The party's Transport Spokesperson Timmy Dooley says AerLingus' Heathrow slots must be protected.

It's understood International Airlines Group submitted a revised proposal worth at least two-euro-fifty a share.

Deputy Dooley says he has serious concerns about any sale and impact it would have on Shannon Airport.
