Business leaders in Shannon have added their voices to those expressing concern over the potential sale of Aer Lingus.
The government has promised to keep the long-term interests of Ireland in mind in deciding whether it should sell its 25% shareholding, but there are worries about what any deal would mean in the Midwest.
Executive Director with Shannon-based Element Six Ken Sullivan said further investment into the Midwest will be undermined by any resulting threat to Shannon-Heathrow slots.
Meanwhile, IBEC Mid-West Regional Director Mairead Crosby says they too are looking for assurances that this region won't suffer if the former flag carrier is sold.
