Clare County Council is being warned that its plans to deal with issues at Blake's Corner in Ennistymon could turn out to be extremely divisive.
The proposal to knock at least two homes and a business to allow for a new Inner Relief Road, while at the same time preserving two derelict but protected buildings, has led to significant criticism in the North Clare town.

The Council has announced plans for a public consultation event next month, but the local authority is also being asked to take alternative proposals on board.
Pat Lynch is a nephew of Judith and Peter O'Donoghue whose home was initially threatened by this plan.
