The Irish National Teacher's Organisation's annual congress will get underway in Ennis today.
The event – which is being held in Treacy's West County Hotel – will see 850 delegates discuss a range of motions on issues affecting the country's primary schools.
The Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan will address the gathering tomorrow.
One of the items to be discussed at the conference is a motion from teachers in West Clare on class sizes.
It comes as new figures reveal one in four pupils are packed into supersize classes.
Members will vote on a commitment to reduce class sizes as 125-thousand primary school pupils are currently squeezed into classes of 30 or more.
