The Clare Fire Service is warning that the risk of gorse fires will remain high over the coming days, and is urging people to desist from any controlled burning.
Fire-fighters battled a fire which covered 150 hectares between Kilmaley and Lissycasey last night, and say it's one of the largest here in recent years.

In light of the recent dry weather, ground conditions mean the risk posed by fires is very high at present and the fire service say this will continue into next week following some forecast light rain over the weekend.
