John Minogue’s side recorded a 15 to 14 point win over Kilkenny in a thrilling game at Croke Park yesterday evening.
The Banner looked in real trouble when the Cats took a 0-12 to 0-10 lead with 15 minutes remaining but they outscored Kilkenny by 0-5 to 0-2 in the closing stages to claim a first ever title.
Colin Ryan notched up 9 points for the Clare side, Man of the match John Conlon clocked up a further 3, and Caimin Morey also added another vital point to the score sheet and Cormac O Donovan’s second point proved to be the decider.
