Republic could form part of new tournament

The Republic of Ireland is likely to take part in a new tournament involving England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

The Scottish and Welsh associations have expressed their interest in a return of the Home Nations Championship , Vauxall are eager to come on board as a sponsor to the revived tournament

That could be bad news for the Carling Nations cup due to take place this year with Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland all involved

Discussions have taken place between the F.A. and F.A.I and both parties are said to be happy with how they are progressing, the Republic of Ireland were not part of the original line up for the Home nations tournament which was last played in 1984

Meanwhile,

Non-league Crawley Town have booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup after dumping Derby County out of the competition
