Clare against it after one point loss in National League Opener.

 

A 13 man Clare senior football side have  opened their national football league account with a one point defeat to Leitrim by 12 points to 11.

Clare had a man sent off in either half with Gordon Kelly and David Tubridy both seeing red in Carrick on Shannon for off the ball incidents.

The win leaves Clare up against it already if they are to achieve promotion and manager Michéal McDermott was hugely disappointed at the final whistle,especially by the referee’s performance::

League Results

Carlow and Wicklow drew their encounter in Dr Cullen park while Longford and Roscommon also played out a draw with London comfortably beating Kilkenny in the other Division 4 clashes.

 

Elsewhere and Cork secured a narrow win over Kerry in division one of the Allianz National Football League on a scoreline of 17 points to 1-13 while in Clones Monaghan beat Galway 19 points to 14.

In ladies football news and the Clare senior side begin their bid for promotion from division three with the perfect start as they accounted for Down by 2-9 to 0-7 in Miltown.
