Clare senior hurling captain Pat Vaughan will be absent for this Sunday’s national league opener against Limerick in Cusack park due to injury.

The Crusheen clubman hasn’t lined out for Ger O Loughlin’s side in 2011 due to a groin problem.

The side trained last evening in Lees Road with Clare manager O’Loughlin hoping no other players get injured between now and Sunday

Meanwhile the final group games in the Fitzgibbon cup are down for decision today.

NUIG will be depending on the result of the C.I.T/D.I.T clash  to go their way if they are to progress while there will be Clare players in action for LIT in their clash against UCD in Dublin.
