Clare edge Antrim while Cat’s beat Cork in thriller

 

Clare got their National Hurling League campaign back on track with a hard-fought 2-14 to 2-13 win over Antrim at Casement Park.

Despite losing James McInerney to a red card, the Banner dug deep to secure the two points.

Elsewhere in Division 2, Carlow defeated Laois on a score of 0-20 to 2-10 and Kerry beat Down 2-23 to 3-16 in a high-scoring game.

In Division 1 of the National Hurling League, Kilkenny defeated Cork 0-14 to 1-10; Galway ran out convincing 1-24 to 1-10 winners over Offaly and Waterford  overcame Wexford on a score of 1-11 to 0-12.

In Division 1 of the National Football League, Kerry were 1-9 to 0-8 winners over Mayo; Down beat Galway on a score of 2-11 to 1-9 and Armagh edged out Monaghan 1-11 to 0-13.

In local football, the Cusack Cup got underway, with four games down for decision. St. Joseph’s Miltown Malbay and Kilrush Shamrocks drew 1-9 apiece while the meeting of St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield and Kilmurry-Ibrickane also ended in a draw, 0-6 apiece.

Doonbeg beat Shannon Gaels on a score of 1-11 to 0-3 and Clondegad defeated Liscannor 1-8 to 0-7.

In the Garry Cup, Eire Og won 4-4 to 2-6 against O’Currys; Ennistymon got the better of Kildysart on a score of 1-13 to 2-4 and St. Senan’s beat Lissycasey 2-7 to 1-5.
