Nash and Malone celebrate All Ireland success

Niall Malone and Diarmaid Nash are All-Ireland Intermediate Doubles champions after an epic win over Kilkenny in Cappagh on Sunday.

On a memorable day for Clare handball, the Tuamgraney pair overcame Nicholas Anthony and Brian Manogue in a two and half hour marathon to progress to the ranks of Senior handball.

Despite losing the first game 21-10, the Clare pair rallied to win the next two games 21-17, 21-17 and take the crown after a thrilling match.

John Cawley’s Golden Masters B Singles All-Ireland final in Monavea, Laois on Sunday also went to three games but unfortunatley the Shannon man came out the wrong side when he lost 21-20, 19-21, 16-21 to Jimmy Reilly of Meath.
 

Meanwhile Hannah O Brien and Aine Mc Inerny won their rescheduled under 17 doubles All-Ireland Final against Lauren Barco and Mary Buggy (Kilkenny) in Goresbridge on Sunday while there was defeat for Anne-Marie Fitzgerald and Lisa Loughnane in the All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Doubles Final against Wicklow in Leixlip on Saturday.
