Dalo leads Dub’s to League title

The Dublin hurlers have claimed their first national league title in over 70 years after an emphatic 22 points to 1-07 (pr: one-7) win over 14-man Kilkenny at Croke Park.

Anthony Daly’s side proved that they’ve now got the ability to compete at the top level after unsettling the Cats and refusing to be intimidated by the physicality of their more illustrious opponents.

The Dubs made a flying start to the game, and Kilkenny needed an early goal from Eddie Brennan to keep them in contention until Eoin Larkin was shown a red card for lashing-out at Conor McCormack.

Larkin’s dismissal was one of several dangerous challenges by the Cats, with Richie Hogan and John Dalton also lucky to escape sanction.

With a numerical advantage, Dublin were able to comfortably keep clear of Kilkenny during the second-half, despite a bad injury for Joey Boland, as they cruised to an historic victory.
