Doora Barefield Ladies Football Club captured their first A title on Saturday last when then won the U 12 championship title at the hands of Kilmurry Ibrickane on a score of 2-8 to 0-4.
West Clare began the defence of thier senior championship on Saturday evening with a narrow win over Cooraclare at Coolmeen. It ended West Clare Gales 2-7 Cooraclare 1-8. The West Clare Gaels Junior team also scraped through the Div. 3 league semi final yesterday when they had a point to spare over Eire Og in a high scoring encounter. The final score was West Clare Gaels 4-8 Eire Og 5-4.
Doonbeg had a comfortable 6-17 to 1-3 win over Kilrush in other Div. 3 league semi final on Saturday. Doonbeg reformed thier adult team this year having been unable to field a team in recent years. A number of their players had assisted other clubs.
In the senior B championship Crusheen proved too strong for Coolmeen. They recorded a 5-11 to 1-3 win at The Banner G.A.A. Grounds yesterday.
Newmarket collected the Div. 2 league title last evening. They defeated neighbours Wole Tones 9-15 to 0-3 at Shannon.
Round 2 of the Senior Championship is on next weekend while the Div. 3 league final between Doonbeg and West Clare Gaels will be played on Saturday evening.
