Ex Liverpool and Aston Villa defender Steven Staunton will join the coaching staff at Sunderland.
The former Republic of Ireland manager will be responsible for scouting opponents and compiling reports for manager Steve Bruce.

Staunton has not worked in coaching since being sacked by Darlington last year.
