Davy Fitzgerald believes Clare are ranked 10th best hurling side in the country.
The Sixmilebridge man is currently in San Francisco with the all stars tour and has admitted the country lag well behind the top sides such as Kilkenny,Tipperary and Galway.
However the Double All Ireland winner belives he can be a success with his native county-especially having won a munster title with the Waterford .
Davy Fitzgerald believes having managed Waterford for the past four years,he has the perfect foundation to lead Clare to succes in the future
He also feels he is a different manager to the one who took over from Justin Mc Carthy in 2008 and has learned how to delegate and man manage.
The new Clare boss also revealed he will be speaking to former Clare boss Ger O Loughlin ahead of taking the reigns in his native county this coming january to get an insight into all the players and will be doing the same at minor and u21 level
He has also reiterted that hard work and patience wil be required to make Clare a force once again but that there is no quick fix.
The all stars of 2010 and 2011 will play their exhibition game tomorow in California with fitzgerald manging this years winners.
