Chairman of Structures committee looks forward to bringing proposals to county board

The chairman of the competiton structures review committe is confident that they will come up with some interesting proposals in relation to the Clare hurling and football championships following last nights regional meetings .

Paraic Boland last night chaired a meeting held in Ennis to discuss possible changes to the structure of all comeptions in clare in order to alleviate fixture congestion..

The meeting  heard from 5 clubs who proposed reducing the senior hurling  championship to a 16 team competition while a proposal for a knockout series  involving 20 teams and the incorporation of the intermediate  champions at round three was also proposed.

A seperate meeting was held in Ennistymon which was attended by many of the football clubs of the county who were also asked to deliver propsals to change the championship while Tuesday saw meeting in Scariff and Kilrush in relation to the same issues.

The issue of the 10 week break received most attention while discussion regarding the possible playing of a round of the championship at the end of July was also considered.
