Any possible changes to the Clare Hurling and Football Championships will be discussed at a special convention to be held on the 14th of January following last nights Clare County Board AGM in Ennis.
The Clare County Board last night voted to put forward proposals to gaa congress to reduce the currnet 13 day rule for inter county players while also being in favour of a plan by Miltown St Josephs to force footballers to kick the ball after three successive handpasses.
The meeting however saw the deferral of almost 20 motions in regards to structures and competitions which will be dealt with by special meeting held in Ennis on the 14th of January which will hear from the structures review committee who have been tasked with finding a solution to the fixtures problem in the county.
Of the remaining motions on the Clár only 4 were passed-one only in principal in regards to disciplinary issues and how sanctions for striking with the hurley should be applied.
Proposals which would have seen more detailed treasurer reports was lost as was a motion that would have seen teams emailed fixtures on a Tuesday evening by 5pm.
Bernard Keane in his treasuers report warned that due to a lack of fans attending games the county’s finacnes were severlly stretched while Tony fitzpatrick the auditor of the accounts warned the board that unless carefully managed the board’s finaces could easily slip into the red.
All senior officers were re elected with chairman Michael O Neil facing into his final 12 months at the helm
