Clare chairman says time needed to work on upgrading of Cusack park

Clare county board chairman Michael O Neill has belives it will  take a a period of a year or more to get Cusack park back upto a standard where the stadium will hold 20,000 people or more.

Last night’s county board agm was told that significant monies would need to be spent in the wake of the Slattery report  which downgraded capacity at the Ennis stadium to just under 15,000.
 

The Board last night told delegates at their annunal convention they would  endevour to increase its capacity and that certain remedial works were  required by the Slattery report.

O Neill however did admit that the immediate priority is making the stadium more comfortable for supporters at a local level:

Last nights agm also saw more discussion on the county fixtures issue with January 14th announced as the day that the structures review committee will present their plans to the county board on what changes could be made to alleviate the fixtures issue.

A finacial warning was also issued to the board at last nights meeting with Bernard Keane warning that new revenue streams will be required if the board are to remain solvent in the future.

Speaking at last nights Agm in Ennis O Neill told Clarefm that everything was being done to reduce expenditure.
