Fitzgerald could face disciplinary proceedings over ref comments

Clare senior hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald could potentially face a disciplinary charge as soon as today, due to his outburst following the county’s loss to Kilkenny.

The Sixmilebridge man accused referees of having a bias against him, a charge which has been wholly dismissed by the National Referee’s Association.

The Central Competitions Controls Committee would be responsible for any disciplinary measures, IF they are to be brought forward, and it’s understood that they met yesterday.

Fitzgerald has previously been censured for criticising referees, during his time as Waterford boss.

Head of the Referee’s Association Mick Curley is not speculating on whether a charge will be brought, but has criticised the comments in question
