Doonbeg’s Pat Hanrahan, John Reidy of Miltown, John Mc Carthy of Clooney Quin, Tommy Curtin and Naomh Eoin’s Gabriel Keating will all form part of a new committee that will seek a successor to Micheál McDermott as Clare football manager.

The group will be joined by a players representative and an ex player as well as being led by County chairman Michael O Neill.

The proposal from Miltown was accepted by the board meeting-despite a proposal from James Murrihy that the vacant job be advertised in the media and let interested candidates interview for the job.

Earlier in the meeting Joint u21 hurling mangers Donal Maloney and Gerry O’Connor appealed to the meeting for a 2 week period free of club action involving their core group of players ahead of the All Ireland final.

The decision  means that the Liscannor/Cratloe round three game will not be played until after the U21 All Ireland final with q-finals likely to be played on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of September.

The meeting agreed  to a proposal from PJ McGuane of Cooraclare that all the q-finals be played on the same weekend-despite some reservations from the floor
