Northumbria police have opened an investigation into death threats sent to Sunderland and Ireland winger James Mc Clean.
The 23 year old was the brunt of critism after refusing to wear a remembrance day poppy last weekend and yesterday was booed by Fulham fans at Craven Cottage during the Black Cats 3-1 win.
