Clare success at National Stillwater Lifesaving Championships

Clare competitors have been to the fore at the National Stillwater Lifesaving Championships, held at the University of Limerick this past Saturday.

Nearly 200 people took part in the annual competition, which tests teams in the skills necessary to rescue people in distress in water.

Clare’s A team finished first in the senior Men competition, with the county’s B team coming in second.

The county also secured the top two spots in the Junior Girls competition, as well as first and third in the Senior Ladies and Junior Boys events.

A host of individual titles also came back to Banner County.

This weekend’s success follows on from Ireland’s large medal haul at last year’s World Championships.

The Clare members of that team were honoured with a civic reception by Clare County Council last night, along with the Clare representatives on Ireland team at the recent World Handball Championships.
