Three Championship débutantes for Clare in Sunday’s Waterford clash

Clare’s starting fifteen for Sunday’s clash with Waterford shows one change from that which beat Cork in last month’s National League Relegation Play-off.

A number of players appear to have beaten off injury concerns, while Davy Fitzgerald is handing Championship debuts to three players.

Conor Ryan of Cratloe, Eire Óg’s Shane O’Donnell and Tulla’s David McInerney will start for the first time in the Munster Championship this coming Sunday when Clare take on Waterford at Semple Stadium.

McInerney starts at full-back, ahead of Inagh-Kilnamona’s Patrick Kelly whose named in goal.

Domhnall O’Donovan of Clonlara starts at Corner back, with Seadna Morey of the Bridge on the other side, having apparently overcome a serious injury concern.

There had also been doubts over the fitness of Whitegate’s Brendan Bugler, but the All-Star starts in the half-backs along with Tubber’s Patrick O’Connor and captain Patrick Donnellan of O’Callaghans Mills.

An all south-east Clare midfield pairing sees Conor Ryan joined by Clonlara’s Colm Galvin, with his clubmate John Conlon starting in the half-forwards, where he’ll be joined by Ballyea’s Tony Kelly and Colin Ryan of Newmarket on Fergus.

The only change from Clare’s last competitive outing against Cork sees Cratloe’s Conor McGrath drafted into a re-shuffled full forward line along with club mate Padraic Collins and Eire Og’s Shane O’Donnell.

Clonlara’s Darach Honan drops to the bench, where he’ll be joined amongst others by Crusheen’s Cian Dillon who recently underwent surgery on a leg injury.
