Forde a doubt for Sweden and Austria qualifiers

Ireland goalkeeper David Forde will have surgery on his knee later today.

He was injured during Milwall’s opening Sky Bet Championship game at the weekend,

and is unlikely to feature in next Wednesday’s friendly against Wales.

He may also be a doubt for the World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria in September.

In Forde’s absence, Sunderland’s Kieren Westwood could get a chance to stake his claim for the number 1 jersey.

Elsewhere Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic could miss up to a month of the new Premier League season.

He’s expected to be out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury sustained in a pre-season game.

The better news at Eastlands is that Sergio Aguero is expected to be return to training later in the week following a knee injury.
