Limerick to appeal minor loss over Hawk Eye failure

Limerick county board have confirmed they will be appealing Sundays All Ireland minor semi final loss to Galway at Croke Park based on the failure of the Hawk Eye Score Detection System.

Shannonsiders forward Barry Nash had what looked to be a legitimate point ruled out by the score detection system in the first minute despite the graphic on screen clearly showing the ball going over the bar, the error caused the system to be stood down for the rest of that day.

Last night Hawk-Eye Innovations Limited confirmed one of the settings at the Hill 16 end was calibrated for football which is what caused the error.

In the statement the company says " Sony Hawk Eye wishes to apologise to the GAA and its supporters and to reassure them that the system will be fully reliable for all future games."
