King To Take Charge Of Ireland

Noel King will take over as temporary Ireland boss for the final World cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan next month.

King, the current Under-21 manager, has previously managed a number of League of Ireland clubs, but now takes charge of the national team as caretaker following the departure of Giovanni Trapattoni.

In a statement last night the F.A.I confirmed that Ray Houghton and Ruud Dokter, the FAI’s newly appointed High Performance Director will carry out an on-going assessment and report for the Board of the best candidates for the senior job.

The Board says it will take the appropriate time to appoint the best person to manage Ireland for the EURO 2016 campaign which starts in September next year.

Martin O’Neill remains favourite to take the position full-time.
