Huge cheers rang out for each of the victorious players as they lifted the Liam McCarthy cup at the Fairgreen in Ennis, having made the journey through the Hurling strongholds of Cratloe, Sixmilebridge, Newmarket on Fergus and Clarecastle.

Meanwhile, the man who sealed Clare’s All Ireland win with a decisive goal says he was determined to go for the net having missed most of the game. Darach Honan was named to start in Saturday’s game, but was dropped hours before throw-in in favour of hat-trick hero Shane O’Donnell.

However, the Clonlara men went onto write his name in the history books of the All Ireland Final by scoring a goal in the game’s dying moments, and clinchinc the Liam McCarthy Cup for Clare.

The Clare public will get another opportunity to see their heroes in action this Wednesday.

The traditional GOAL Challenge will be held in Cusack Park, and will see members of Davy Fitzgerald’s side taking to the field before what’s expected to be a large crowd. Throw-in is at 6:00.
