City Cruise Into Champions League Last 16

It was a very good night for Man City last night in the Champions League.

They thrashed CSKA Moscow 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium, to qualify for the last-16 for the first time in their history. Alvaro Negredo bagged a hat-trick, with Sergio Aguero scoring twice.

Cross-town rivals Man Utd still have some work to do to qualify from their group. They endured a frustrating night as they were held to a nil-all draw away to Real Sociedad. United wasted a series of goal-scoring chances, with Robin van Persie missing a second half penalty and Javier Hernandez missing a sitter. United’s Marouane Fellaini was sent off late on.

Elsewhere, Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both scored for Real Madrid in a 2-2 draw away to Juventus.

There’s plenty more action tonight in the Champions League.

Arsenal have a tough tie away to Borussia Dortmund in Group F, and they’re without Jack Wilshere, who has an ankle injury.

Fernando Torres is out for Chelsea, as they host Schalke in Group E and Celtic will be looking for a priceless away win in Group H. They travel to Amsterdam to take on Ajax. A win for the Glasgow side could see them move up to second in the table, with just two games remaining.

Also in Celtic’s group, Barcelona host AC Milan. All games kick off at 7:45pm.
