Eight All-Star Awards For Clare Champions

Eight of Clare’s All Ireland champion hurlers have been honoured with All-Star awards, matching the county’s best ever total for a single year.

Tulla’s David McInerney is named in the full-backs, one of four Clare award winners who won Under-21 All Irelands, as well as senior medals.

In the half-backs, Brendan Bugler of Whitegate scoops a second All-Star, alongside the county captain, Patrick Donnellan of O’Callaghans Mills.

There’s an all-Clare midfield pairing of Colm Galvin of Clonlara and Cratloe’s Conor Ryan, while Ballyea’s Tony Kelly is named at centre-forward, with Cratloe pair Podge Collins and Conor McGrath corner-forwards.

Cork and Dublin have three each, along with one for Limerick, so for the first time in 32 years there are no All-Stars from Kilkenny or Tipperary.

The players will receive their trophies during a ceremony at Croke Park tomorrow night, when the Player and Young Player of the Year winners will also be announced, as well as the football awards.
