Swift County Board Convention In Ennis

Just half of the motions on the agenda for the Clare County Board convention were discussed at last night’s meeting.

All Games motions have been deferred as clubs are to be supplied with a document from the fixtures committee detailing plans for the year ahead, while it’s status quo as regards board officers.

The 2013 County convention will go down as one of the quickest in a number of years, with just over 2 hours of business in the Auburn Lodge.

All motions for Central Council and Munster Council were put to delegates – among the recommendations passed were Clonlara’s motion that All Ireland Finals be played on the last Sunday in August and, that in the event of a drawn All Ireland, a replay be held within 1 or 2 weeks.

Delegates also passed motion number 4 looking for the International Rules series to be terminated after 2015.

As regards Munster Council motions, it came as no surprise that motions from Cooraclare’s and St. Joseph’s Miltown’s calling for a reversal of the Seeded draw for the Munster Senior Football Championship were met with full support and Cooraclare’s motion passed unanimously.

Changes to competitions, including the structure of the Senior Hurling Championship and the availability of inter-county players to their clubs, came under the Games motions, and will be discussed at the next county board meeting.
