One of Clare’s top jockeys may have had the early part of his season derailed by injury, but he insists he’s not letting the setback affect him.
Tubber’s Derek O’Connor has returned to action following a broken leg, winning two races at his first meet back in the saddle near Kanturk .

However, his absence has allowed some of his rivals to steal a march on him and O’Connor is 27 winners behind leader Jamie Codd in the point-to-point Championship, a gap which he admits could be insurmountable.
But though this could break his streak of 10 successive jockeys titles, O’Connor says he’s hopeful the injury will turn out to be a positive as he prepares for the busy Christmas season.
