McIlroy is Golf’s World Number 1

Rory McIlroy is once again the world's number one golfer following victory at the W-G-C Bridgestone Invitational.

Starting the day three shots off the lead, McIlroy won by two strokes from Sergio Garcia.

After his win at the Open a fortnight ago, McIlroy says victory this week was all about maintaining momentum.

It's on to Valhalla next for McIlroy for the final major of the year, the U-S P-G-A.

One man unlikely to be there is Tiger Woods, after he withdrew from the Bridgestone Invitational less than halfway into his final round.

Woods says he was suffering back spasms early in his fourth round.

The 14-time Major winner underwent surgery for a back problem at the end of March and made his return just three months later at the Quicken Loans National.
