St Josephs Miltown were first to book their spot, with a comprehensive 3-12 to 0-6 win over St Senans Kilkee.

A goal from Eoin Cleary helped them into a 1-6 to 0-5 lead at half time, and Kilkee's failure to add to their five point tally was crucial.

It took them 25 minutes of the second period to score, and by that time Miltown had registered another 1-6, Eoin Curtin with the goal.

Conor Cleary added a third green flag to finish the scoring, and book his sides passage to the last 8.

Clondegad are also through after a 2-10 to 0-11 point win over fellow parishioners Lissycasey.

A brace of goals in the opening period from Brian Carrig and Podge McMahon were the crucial scores in this one, with Carrigs coming from a disputed spot kick.

They led by 2-5 to 0-6 at half time, and closed the game out to advance to the quarter finals.

The third team to book their spot were last years beaten finalists Doonbeg.

In a dour encounter in Kilmihil, they overcame St Josephs Doora Barefield by 0-14 to 0-6.

A half time score of 0-5 to 0-0 in favour of the Magpies tells the story of the opening half, and indeed the game.

Kieran O'Neills side were utterly dominant, and with Shane Ryan and David Tubridy dictatcing proceedings, they were never troubled.

Kilmurry Ibrickane got their year back on track with a 1-13 to 0-3 win over Shannon Gaels in the losers round.

They led by 0-7 to 0-0 at half time, and Niall Hickeys second half goal put the result beyond doubt.

The Bricks now enter the playoff round, while Shannon Gaels are out of this years championship, and face into a relegation semi final.

There's four more game down for decision today.

The final quarter final spot will be decided when defending champions Cratloe take on Cooraclare.

That game is underway in Clarecastle at 1pm.

At the same in Doonbeg, Kilrush and O'Currys go head to head in a winner takes all clash.

Whoever loses here will head for a relegation semi final, while the winners go into the playoff round.

There's a double header in the losers round this evening in Corofin to close proceedings in the second round.

First up is the meeting of Eire Óg and Liscannor at 5.30pm, with north Clare rivals Ennistymon and St Breckans clashing at 7pm.

The losers of these games will be the final two semi finalists in the relegation battle, while the winners get another chance to stay in this years race for Jack Daly.
