Good Start for Ireland at European Athletics Championships

Four Irish athletes have progressed in their events on Day One of the European Championships in Zurich.

Medal hopeful Brian Gregan is through to the semi-finals after finishing third at his ease in the 400 metres heats, Richard Morrisey has also made it through as a fastest loser.

Irish record holder Amy Foster has got through to tomorrow's semi finals of the 100 metres as a fastest loser however Phil Healy is out. 

Waterfords Thomas Barr won his heat of the 400 metres hurdles meaning he's through to tomorrows semi final.

23 year old Jason Harvey misses out on the semi's having finished 7th in his heat.

Limericks Sarah Lavin set a personal best in the 100 metres hurdles but missed out on qualification, while Mark English, Declan Murray and Finnoula Britton all run this evening.
