First Weekend of Camogie Championship Action

Last night saw the start of the Clare PK Travel Senior Camogie Championship.

Starting us off Newmarket on Fergus scored  2-17 over  Kilkishen's 1-6

A brace of goals from Joanne Walsh in the opening half saw Newmarket lead 2-10 to 0-3 as they started the defence of their title as County Champions against Kilkishen in the opening game of the Senior Championship. 

Kilkishen upped the ante in the second half exerting a tighter rein on the Blues however it was the reigning Champions who cruised to victory.

Clooney Quion signalled their intentions in the race for the McMahon Cup with a comprehensive 3-14 to 1-7 win over Sixmilebridge in Kilkishen last night. The 2013 Finalists were 2-9 to 1-3 ahead at half time, adding 1-5 in the second half as they dominated the Bridge to secure victory.

Moving to the clash between Inagh Kilnamona and Trugh Clonlara now and First half goals for each side, Fiona Lafferty for Inagh Kilnamona with a 21 yard free in the 28th minute followed just a minute later by Truaghs Michelle Powell saw these 2 sides go in level at the break 1-4 apiece.

On the resumption after the break the close encounter that was expected did not materialise as Inagh-Kilnamona took control and dominated the 2nd half. Despite gallant efforts by the Truagh backs the scores were coming easier for Inagh-Kilnamona who outscored Truagh by 1-10 to 0-01 in that half, running out comfortable winners 2-14 to 1-5

 
Staying with the Senior Camogie Championship and this afternoon and in Kilkishen Kilmaley has won out over Scariff Ogonnelloe. 3-17 to 5 points the final score there.  

While later this evening in the Intermediate Championship in Gurteen,  St Josephs and Whitegate meet at 7 o'clock.
