Historic double for Cratloe

Cratloe have made history in Cusack Park this afternoon.

Victory over Eire Óg in the Clare SFC Final has seen the south Clare club crowned both County Hurling and Football Champions, something which hasn't been achieved on the field of play since 1914.

The final scoreline read Cratloe 2-12 Eire Óg 0-11 with first half goals from Podge Collins and Conor McGrath the crucial scores of the game.

They led by 2-4 to 0-2 midway through the opening half, with Collins setting up McGrath to slot the ball home before doing likewise himself just minutes later.

Eire Óg fought back to cut the gap to 0-3 approaching half time, but Liam Markhams second point saw them take a 2-6 to 0-8 lead to the dressing room at the break.

Cratloe began the second half the brightest, and rattled off 3 unanswered points to take control of the game.

Cathal McInerney and Podge Collins were constant thorns in the Eire Óg sides, and it was Collins who took the Man of the Match award at the full time whistle, finishing with a personal tally of 1-4.

Captain Michael Hawes was presented with Cratloes second Jack Daly in a row by chairman of Clare GAA Michael McDonagh

Cratloe now go on to play either Limerick champions Ballylanders or the Waterford champions in the Munster Semi Final
