On Wednesday’s Morning Focus, the show recapped on the weekend’s local elections.

We heard from senior figures from three of the main political parties at the count centre on Sunday. Gavin spoke to Finna Fáil Director of Elections Gerry Reidy, Fine Gael Clare Constituency Chairman Sean Chambers and Donna-Deirdre McGettigan – Ennis candidate for Sinn Féin in Local Elections.

Next up on the show, Gavin looked at a share offer to Clare farmers, who are members of Kerry Co-Op. Gavin was joined by Mundy Hayes, Chairperson of Kerry Co-Op group who is urging members to consider he cash-for-shares option. He outlined the importance to anyone seeking to sell their shares of seeking independent financial advice, as the scheme attracts income tax, rather than capital gains tax.

In the second half of the program, we were joined by our Ask the GP – Dr. Máire Finn to discuss the importance of medical screenings and in particular the cervical cancer checks.

Presenter Brian Flynn brought in his -The Greatest Song You’ve Probably Never Heard.

Cora Gunter and Theresa Carmody O’Shea joined us with our Morning Focus Book Club to talk about ‘Twelve Thousand Days’ by Éilís Ní Dhuibhne

And finally we spoke to our Ask the Vet – John Underhill about the impact of ticks on animals in the hot weather.
