Clare County Council is inviting members of the public to play their part in identifying housing estates that could benefit from the introduction of new speed limits. The call follows a Circular from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport requesting Local Authorities throughout Ireland to introduce new measures to reduce vehicle speeds in estates and residential areas. This follows a national campaign by the Brennan family in Kilkenny whose young son Jack was knocked down and killed in the family housing estate earlier this year. Barry Keating Road Safety Officer Clare County Council joined Marian to discuss the topic.

The budget has been perceived by most commentators as being a “farmer friendly” one with a range of measures aimed at stimulating different areas of the sector, most notably land mobility and transfer. There are two separate strands to the agriculture budget; taxation and spending.The outcome was 25 measures, 12 of which are, as Minister Coveney described them, “brand new” Eddie PunchGeneral Secretary ICSA and Cratloe based farmer joined Marian to talk about the issue and the increasing  problem of castle and sheep rustling

Ennis Chamber is delighted to announce details of the FBD Clare Business Excellence Awards Night for 2014!  The Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, the 18th of October in Treacy's West County Hotel, Limerick Road, Ennis, commencing with a Drinks Reception at 7.30pm.  These Awards recognise the achievements and efforts of businesses across County Clare in a broad range of sectors and areas.  Rita McInerney of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce was in studio with Marion to preview the event.

Our Friday  panel took a look back at some of the weeks biggest stories with Marian. Making up the panel this week were  Michael Vaughen  of the  Irish Hotels Federation, Margaret O’Brien, journalist with the Sunday Business Post and John Cullinane of Saint Vincent de Paul Clare. Amonst the topics the panel discussed were Budget 2015, water charge protests, U2’s free album apology and Irelands great draw in Germany.

As always ona Friday we finished the show by having a look at some of the events happening around the county this weekend including  a food and film night in Glor Ennis  this Saturday organised by the Ennis Lions club, Clare Area Committee Irish Red cross fundraiser in Lahinch to  collect much needed funds for a Community Vehicle-Ambulance-Mini-Bus for the People of Co. Clare and The Clare Memory Orchestra  premiere  of the new Brian Boro themed work by founder Dave Flynn in Killaloe, alongside a second performance of The Clare Concerto led by Martin Hayes.
