There was shock this week at news that Roche Ireland is to exit its Clarecastle plant. Pat spoke to Gerry Cahill MD of Roche Ireland; Alan O'Leary SIPTU organiser – representing 100 workers at Roche (most process operators and technicians); Dep Timmy Dooley, FF; Dep Joe Carey, FG; Cllr Pat Daly Mayor of Ennis; Cllr Mary Howard Leas Cathaoirleach Clare; and TJ Waters (former Roche staff member for approx. 30 years).
Other contributors to the debate included Dep Pat Breen, FG and Dep Michael McNamara, FF, who called for a joint action from Clare politicians of all parties.
Morning Focus also heard from Josephine Cotter Coughlan about the Ennis Tidy Towns Awards.
Our Friday panel returned to the Roche issue with John Quinlivan, Former Shannon Development Regional Manager & Chairman of Friends of Shannon Airport; Mary Cashin Solicitor/Mediator with Cashin & Associates Solicitors, Ennis; Ger O’Halloran, businessman, Abbey Stores, Quin. 
Sean Reidy reported from Clarecastle on the sense of shock in the community and Pat also spoke to Fr Pat Malone, Parish Priest of Clarecastle.
