Morning Focus – Friday, October 30, 2015

Our show opened with a controversy surrounding Taoiseach Enda Kenny. Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams says the Taoiseach is 'making an eejit of himself' in the controversy over his claims the army was almost called in to protect banks during the financial crisis.
After an embarrassing week for the Taoiseach, who was forced to admit that he did not receive a “specific” briefing from the governor of the Central Bank that the army would have to surround ATMs after he took office, FG Senator Tony Mulcahy spoke to Gavin about the controversy.

Anne Dempsey of Senior Helpline spoke to Gavin of fears that older people can have around the season of Hallowe'en.

The issue of ladies' sport was also discussed. Sport Ireland says girls are most likely to drop out of sporting activities in their teenage years.
A conference in Dublin heard this week from organisations and female athletes about how to encourage more girls and women to get involved in sports.
The event in Dublin Castle, which was jointly hosted by the Department of Justice and Equality and the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport, was looking to 'level the playing field'.
Rosie Foley, Former Rugby international from Killaloe, and Deirdre Murphy, UL GAA Development Officer, joined Gavin to talk about the issue.

Kevin Donoghue, President of USI, told Morning Focus of his organisation's opposition to the proposed student loan scheme.

Tim Hanley, School Programmes Administrator Concern, told Gavin that the organisation is looking for debate adjudicators in Clare.

Clare contestant in the Great Irish Bake-off, Emer Hough, told Gavin of her hopes for the competition.

We head from Ennis National School on their annual Hallowe'en Hobble.

Our Friday panel included Jim Connolly, Rural resettlement, Kilbaha; Noel Crowley, Former County Librarian; and Laura Mulcahy
of Dha Lamh Beat.

We were also joined by the Paranormal Forensics team of Jackie Kennedy, Edel Brown and Anna Cannon.
