Morning Focus Monday December 23

On Monday’s Morning Focus with John Cooke we heard President Michael D Higgins’ address to the Irish people this Christmas – much of his message was directed at Irish emigrants and their families.

Chris McKiernan in Kilrush spoke with John about the mystery of a card being delivered to his parent’s home despite not having a surname or address

His uncle in Cavan sent it and the envelope literally just had Ann and Jimmy written on it, no address, no surname- and it arrived!

After a long campaign Ennis National School pupils and staff finally got a new school building this year

Clare FM’s Mairead Collins visited there last week to see how their first Christmas in their brand new school was going…

Caher Councillor Pat Hayes spoke with John about a shortage of cash in many of the ATMs in the East Clare area recently that caused much inconvenience to people.

Garda Brendan Keane of Ennis Garda Station joined John in studio with some festive advice for people

Clare Gardai have issued a special warning to motorists travelling to be with loved ones this Christmas

Officers are urging drives to do a thorough check of their vehicle before embarking on their journey to ensure that tires have the proper thread depth, lights are working and that the vehicle has sufficient oil and water

Gardai are also appealing to those travelling to allow extra time for their journey as the roads get busier and to beware of debris and surface water
