A busy Thursday edition of Morning Focus was out on the streets of Ennis, where graffiti is impacting on the town’s chances of a positive result in the Tidy Towns competition.
Gavin was joined on the line by Cormac McCarthy of Ennis Tidy Towns, while Fiona heard from Councillor Mary Howard, a volunteer with the organisation. Listen back below:
The show opened with a look at the situation at beef factories across the country, where farmers from the Beef Plan movement are protesting. Gavin was joined by Pat O’Toole, News Correspondent with the Irish Farmers’ Journal.
The issue of a high failure rate of rental properties in Clare, on local authorities inspections, was then discussed, when Gavin was joined by Cllr Gerry Flynn from the Shannon Municipal District.
After the news, Gavin heard from Petra Meyer and Eileen Toomey, both of whom are involved with rehoming greyhounds. They gave their reaction to news of a €1 million fund to support the rescue and rehoming of dogs.
An exciting integrated dance project called ‘Boga Boga, Move Move’ is coming to Clare and Gavin heard from choreographer Tara Brandel from Croí Glan. Integrated Dance provides a unique nonverbal environment where disabled and able bodied people can feel their equality and shared humanity through an immediate and visceral experience
Workshops in Ennis are taking place over the coming months. They’re free but places are limited and require committment to all three workshops, which take place on Friday 27th September, 4th October, 1st of November, 2019.
